2009 AWARD RECIPIENTS FOR

KEEP MANATEE BEAUTIFUL OUTSTANDING EFFORTS

 

BRADENTON—At Keep Manatee Beautiful’s annual Awards Luncheon on September 24 at Bradenton Country Club, local businesses, governmental agencies, neighborhoods, organizations and citizens were awarded for their outstanding volunteer efforts during 2009 in litter cleanup and prevention, recycling and landscaping.  

 

OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER GROUP AWARDS:

These groups surpassed the norm doing quarterly litter cleanups and marking storm drains.

 

Adopt-A-Highway Program:        Zeta Phi Beta Sorority has been doing quarterly cleanups of Bus. 41

in Palmetto since 1993

Adopt-A-Road Program:              Southeast High School’s  Key Club & Seminole Pride combined did 20 cleanups during 2008-2009 school year of 37th Ave. E. and 9th St. E.

Adopt-A-Shore Program:             Longboat Key Turtle Watch has been doing monthly cleanups along the entire gulf shoreline of Longboat Key within Manatee County since 2003

            Storm Drain Stenciling:               Southeast High School Seminole Pride marked 155 storm drains with

stormwater pollution prevention messages

 

LEAVE YOUR MARK KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL SCHOOL OF THE YEAR AWARDS

These schools surpassed the norm in meeting criteria necessary to become a Keep America Beautiful school.

RECYCLING AWARDS:

Recycling Awards honored those going beyond the norm to recycle goods used in the workplace or at home that otherwise would be discarded.

Demonstrated leadership in cleaning up and improving the community environment through litter prevention, preventing illegal dumping, beautification and minimizing impacts of waste.
